Remote IT Support for the Sunshine Coast

Afford IT works out of Indooroopilly in Brisbane, and the Sunshine Coast is a remote-support region. We do not attend onsite here, and we say so up front rather than letting you find out after booking.

What that rules out is narrower than most people expect. The majority of the calls any computer repair business takes are software, email, malware or settings problems, and none of those need a person in the room. Remote sessions usually start within a day and finish inside the hour.

What we can do remotely

• Slow computers, startup problems and storage that has filled up
• Virus and malware removal, including the browser hijacks and startup damage left behind
• Email accounts that have stopped sending, receiving or syncing
• Windows and macOS errors, failed updates and configuration
• Installing and setting up software properly
• Backups — setting them up, and confirming an existing one would actually restore
• Network and router settings, provided the connection itself is up
• Scam recovery — what was installed, what was reached, and securing your accounts
• Unhurried one-to-one help, which is a perfectly good use of the time

Where remote support stops

We need the machine to start and to reach the internet. A computer that will not boot, a connection that is down, a failed drive, a broken screen, or anything involving cabling and hardware installation cannot be handled online — that is a physical limit, not a policy.

For hardware and drive problems, data recovery is regularly sent to us from outside Brisbane. A drive posted or couriered to us is assessed exactly as it would be if you had walked it in, and we will tell you the honest prospects before you commit to any cost. Workshop drop-off at Level 2, 49 Station Road, Indooroopilly is available by appointment if you are travelling to Brisbane.

And if it is a hands-on job where coming to Brisbane makes no sense, we will say so and suggest you find someone local. That is a better outcome for you than a booking we cannot honour.

What it costs

The same $135 per hour as every other service we offer, with the same commitment: we tell you before the job goes past the hour. No callout fee, no travel fee, no booking fee, and no loading for being outside Brisbane.
