01  Project examples

Afford IT undertakes once-off technology projects for small businesses.

A project has a start and an end. You tell us the outcome you want, we work out what it takes, and when it is finished you are not left with a monthly agreement you did not need. Examples include:

  • Office relocations
  • New business setup
  • Microsoft 365 migrations
  • Computer replacement projects
  • Wi-Fi upgrades
  • Network replacements
  • Email migrations
  • Cloud migrations
  • File migrations
  • Phone system deployments
  • Hardware rollouts
  • IT cleanup projects
02  How a project runs

From first call to finished

Projects are scoped and quoted according to requirements.

  1. Describe it. Tell us what you are trying to achieve and any date it has to be done by.
  2. We scope it. We look at what is there today, ask what we need to, and work out what is involved.
  3. You get a quote. You see what is included before anything starts, and decide whether to go ahead.
  4. We schedule and deliver. Work is planned around how your business trades, so staff are disrupted as little as possible.
  5. We confirm it works. We check everything is doing what it should, with the people who use it.
03  IT cleanup

The cleanup project nobody books

Many small businesses have an IT environment that was assembled over years by whoever was available: shared logins, files in four places, a printer nobody can explain, and an old computer in a cupboard that is somehow still important.

A cleanup project is a deliberate tidy of all that — working out what exists, removing what should not, documenting what remains and fixing the weak points. It is also a good first step before deciding whether you need a managed service at all.

04  Plan it before it breaks

Projects worth doing before they become emergencies

  • Replacing computers that can no longer receive security updates
  • Moving email off an old host before it is withdrawn or becomes unreliable
  • Retiring an ageing server or file share and moving the data somewhere safer
  • Replacing the router supplied with the internet plan with proper office networking
  • Putting a tested backup in place before the day you need one
05  Questions

Common questions

Projects are scoped and quoted according to your requirements, so you know what is included before work starts. Parts and third-party software are quoted separately and never ordered without your approval.

We plan project work around how your business operates. Tell us when you can least afford disruption and we will say what we can schedule.

We tell you, and you decide what to do about it. Nothing outside the agreed scope goes ahead without your say-so.

Many of them — Microsoft 365, email, cloud and file migrations are mostly remote work and can be done for businesses anywhere. Physical work like network installs and relocations needs us onsite, which we do across Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Logan.
