Our Workmanship Warranty
30 days on workmanship. If our work does not hold, we come back and put it right at no additional labour charge, and no callout fee for the return visit. Here is exactly what that means, in writing.
Last updated: 2 August 2026 | Version: 1.0
The promise, in one sentence: if the fault we were engaged to fix comes back within 30 days, and it comes back because of the work we did or the part we supplied, we return and fix it at no additional labour charge and no callout fee.
1. What this warranty is
This is a written warranty given by Afford IT (ABN 61 664 294 482) covering the labour we perform and the parts we supply.
It is given in addition to the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. It does not replace or reduce them. See section 8.
2. How long cover lasts
| What is covered | Warranty period |
|---|---|
| Labour and workmanship on a repair | 30 days |
| Virus and malware removal — reinfection by the same threat | 14 days |
| Network, WiFi and email configuration work | 30 days |
| New parts we supply and fit | The manufacturer's warranty period, typically 12 months |
The warranty period runs from the date the work is completed, which is the date shown on your invoice. Cover applies to the specific device and the specific fault we were engaged to address.
Virus and malware removal carries a shorter period than other work for a straightforward reason. Once a device is back in normal use, a new infection is almost always a new event — a different download, a different link, a different email — rather than a failure of the clean we performed. Fourteen days is long enough to establish that the original threat was genuinely removed, which is what we are warranting.
3. What is covered
- The original fault recurring, where it recurs because of the work we performed.
- A part we supplied and fitted failing within its warranty period.
- A configuration we set up — email, WiFi, backup, printer — failing because of how we configured it.
- Work that was not completed to a reasonable standard.
Where a warranty claim is accepted, we return and rectify the fault at no additional labour charge, and there is no callout fee for the return visit.
4. What is not covered
We would rather be clear about this up front than argue about it later.
- A new and different fault. Computers develop unrelated problems; a new fault is a new job.
- New malware or a new infection from a different source, or from browsing, downloads or email after we handed the device back.
- Changes made after we finished — software installed, settings changed, or work performed by you or another technician.
- Accidental damage, liquid damage, drops, power surges, fire, theft or misuse.
- Wear and failure of other components. Repairing one part of an ageing machine does not warrant the rest of it.
- Data. This warranty covers workmanship, not data. Data recovery outcomes are not guaranteed — see section 5 of our Terms of Service.
- Third-party services outside our control, including your internet connection, an email provider's outage, or a software vendor's update.
- Faults we identified and told you about where you chose not to proceed with the recommended repair.
- Equipment we advised was beyond economic repair where you asked us to proceed anyway.
5. How to make a claim
- Contact us. Call 1800 851 816 or email support@affordit.com.au. Quote the invoice number or job reference from the original work.
- Describe the fault. Tell us what is happening and when it started. If it is the same fault as before, say so.
- We assess. We will often diagnose over the phone. If we cannot, we will arrange a return visit or ask you to bring the device to our Indooroopilly office.
- We respond. We aim to acknowledge a warranty claim within 1 business day and to attend or complete the rectification within 5 business days, subject to your availability.
- If the claim is not covered — for example, because it is a new and unrelated fault — we will explain why before doing any chargeable work, and quote you for it. You are never charged for work you have not approved.
Please keep your invoice. It is the record of what work was done and when the warranty period started.
6. Parts warranty
New parts we supply carry the manufacturer's warranty, which is typically 12 months but varies by part and brand. We will tell you the applicable period when we quote the part.
If a supplied part fails within its warranty period, we manage the manufacturer's claim on your behalf — you do not have to deal with the supplier yourself. Labour to remove and refit a warranted part within our workmanship period is not charged.
Where a customer supplies their own part, we warrant our fitting of it but not the part itself.
7. Before we start work
Warranty cover assumes you have followed the responsibilities set out in our Terms of Service, in particular section 5 on backups. We cannot warrant data, and we ask every customer to have a current backup before we begin.
8. Your Australian Consumer Law rights
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel the contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion.
The benefits given by this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies available to you under a law in relation to the goods or services to which this warranty relates.
You do not have to rely on this warranty to obtain a remedy. If a Consumer Law guarantee applies and gives you a better outcome than this warranty, that is the outcome you are entitled to.
9. Cost of claiming
There is no charge to make a warranty claim, and no callout or travel fee for a warranty visit within our standard service area. You are not required to bear any expense in claiming under this warranty other than, where you choose to, the cost of transporting the device to us.
