Remote IT Support for the Gold Coast

Afford IT is a Brisbane business based in Indooroopilly, and the Gold Coast is a remote-support region for us. We do not send technicians onsite here. We would rather tell you that plainly than take a booking we could not service properly.

That is less of a limitation than it sounds. A large share of what people call a computer repair business about does not require anyone to touch the machine, and those jobs are frequently resolved the same day — often within the hour — without anyone travelling anywhere.

What we can do remotely

• Slow computers — startup clutter, storage problems, software conflicts
• Virus, malware and unwanted software removal, including the browser and startup damage it leaves behind
• Email setup and repair, sync failures, and send or receive problems
• Windows and macOS faults, update failures and settings
• Software installation, configuration and licensing
• Backup setup, and checking that an existing backup actually restores
• Router and network settings, where the connection is still working
• Scam aftermath — establishing what was installed and what was accessed, then securing your accounts
• Patient one-to-one help for someone who wants something explained properly

What needs hands on the hardware

Remote support needs the computer to turn on and reach the internet. If it will not boot, has no connection, or the problem is physical — a failed drive, a cracked screen, a dead power supply, running cable or installing a mesh system — that cannot be done online, by us or by anyone.

For those, two options remain open to you. Workshop drop-off at Level 2, 49 Station Road, Indooroopilly by appointment, if you are heading to Brisbane anyway. And data recovery, which we regularly receive from well outside Brisbane — a drive travels perfectly well, and the assessment does not depend on where you live.

If it is genuinely a hands-on job and a trip to Brisbane makes no sense, say so when you call. We would rather point you toward someone local than take your money for a visit we are not going to make.

What it costs

Remote support is charged at the same $135 per hour as everything else we do, with the same promise attached: you are told before we go past the hour. There is no callout fee, no travel fee and no booking fee — and no surcharge for being outside Brisbane. Most remote sessions are finished well inside the hour.
