Remote Business IT Support for the Gold Coast

We support Gold Coast businesses remotely rather than onsite — which for Microsoft 365, email, accounts and security is usually quicker than waiting for a technician anyway.

01  Gold Coast

Afford IT is a Brisbane business. On the Gold Coast we work remotely, and we would rather say that plainly than take a booking we could not service properly.

That is a smaller limitation than it sounds for a business. The bulk of what keeps a small business running — the email, the Microsoft 365 tenant, user accounts, licences, security settings, software and the cloud systems behind them — is administered online. None of it needs anyone in the room, and it is often fixed the same day.

We charge the same $168 an hour as everywhere else, with no travel fee and no loading for being outside Brisbane, and we tell you before a job goes past the hour.

02  What remote covers

Business IT you can do without a visit

  • Microsoft 365 setup, administration and troubleshooting
  • Email problems, mailbox access and migrations from another provider
  • Creating, changing and closing staff accounts and licences
  • Multi-factor authentication for the whole team
  • Account and email security configuration
  • Software installation, licensing and application faults
  • Backup configuration and restore checks
  • Security reviews, with a prioritised list of fixes
  • Router and firewall settings where the connection is still up
03  Who we hear from

Gold Coast businesses, by pattern

The work tracks how the coast actually trades.

Visitors and venues

Hospitality, tourism and holiday rentals

Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh and Miami. Staff numbers rise and fall with the season, so accounts and licences need to be added and removed quickly, without paying for people who are not there.

Professional and health

Practices and firms

Southport, Robina and Varsity Lakes. Small professional firms and clinics where the priorities are sound email, multi-factor authentication, secure file sharing and backups that actually restore.

Trades and building

The growth corridor

Coomera, Pimpama, Nerang and Molendinar. Construction and trade businesses with staff on site, email on every phone and an office that is a utility trailer and a laptop.

04  New starters

Setting up a new starter without being in the room

When someone new joins, the account side is all done online ahead of the day: their user, licence, email, shared mailboxes, file access and multi-factor authentication. On their first morning we can be on a short call while they sign in for the first time, to make sure everything they need is there.

The computer itself is the one part we cannot touch. If it arrives configured by whoever supplied it, we connect to it remotely and finish the job from there.

05  Limits

What needs hands on the equipment

Remote support needs the computer to turn on and to reach the internet. If it will not start, the connection is down, or the problem is physical — a failed drive, a dead power supply, cabling, installing access points — it needs someone onsite, and that is not us on the Gold Coast.

When that comes up, we say so on the first call and, where we can, tell you what to ask a local provider for so that you are not left guessing. We would rather point you to someone nearby than book a visit we are not going to make.

06  Getting started

How a remote engagement starts

There is nothing to install or sign before we talk.

  1. You call or send the form. Say what is wrong or what you need, and roughly how many people it affects.
  2. We tell you if remote will do it. You hear that on the first call, before you commit to anything.
  3. We book a session. Usually within a day, with you on the line so you can see what is happening.
  4. You get a clear finish. We tell you what was done and what, if anything, to watch for next.
07  Questions

Common questions

Correct — the Gold Coast is a remote-support region for us. We do not attend onsite, and we say so up front. For anything hands-on, we will tell you what to ask a local provider for.

No. Remote support is the same $168 an hour, with no callout, travel or booking fee and no distance loading. You are told before a job goes past the hour.

A computer that starts and an internet connection. We arrange the session with you on the phone, so you know when it starts and what we are doing.

Yes. Adding and removing staff accounts and licences is quick remote work, and it can be done to a checklist so that nobody keeps access they should not have.
