Springwood sits on the Pacific Motorway as Logan's principal business centre — a concentration of offices, professional practices, medical suites and service businesses, wrapped in established residential streets from the 1970s and 80s.

That commercial density is what distinguishes it from the suburbs around it, and a substantial share of our Springwood work is small business support offered the way small businesses actually want it: no contract, no retainer, no minimum spend.

Business support without a contract

The typical Springwood business we attend has between three and twenty computers, a shared printer or two, cloud accounting, and email that has to work. There is usually no internal IT person and often no server.

Managed-service providers will sell these businesses a monthly agreement, and for some that is genuinely the right answer. For many it is simply a fixed cost attached to a handful of incidents a year. We are the alternative: you call when something is wrong, we attend, and you pay for the time it takes at $135 per hour.

The residential half of Springwood is largely established brick homes from the 1970s and 80s, many now on their second or third owners, with the technology profile that goes with that — ageing desktops, routers where the phone line entered, and a lot of accumulated family data.

Springwood jobs

Email, first and foremost. More business calls here begin with email than anything else — accounts that stopped syncing, mail arriving in recipients' junk folders, mailboxes at capacity, or half-finished migrations. Email problems are dangerous for a small business precisely because they are invisible until a client mentions something never arrived.

Backups nobody has tested. The two questions we ask on every business visit: when did you last confirm a restore worked, and what happens tomorrow if this machine does not start? An untested backup is the most common false comfort we encounter, and verifying it costs very little.

Staff turnover and access. Small offices rarely have a process for removing access when someone leaves. Old logins staying live for months is normal rather than exceptional, and for a practice holding client information it is a genuine exposure.

Shared printers and scanners. The most common single point of failure in a small office, usually breaking after a router change or an update that altered how the device is addressed.

Cloud accounting and the systems around it. Most Springwood practices now run their accounting in a browser, which shifts the risk from the server to the login. Weak or shared passwords, no second factor, and former staff still holding access are the exposures we see most. None of it is expensive to close off, and it is far cheaper than explaining a breach to a client.

Residential work. Slow computers, virus removal, WiFi coverage in extended brick homes, printers and data recovery — the standard range, at the same rate.

Getting to you in Springwood

Springwood is about thirty minutes from our Indooroopilly workshop via the motorway. No travel fee, no callout fee, no distance surcharge.

For businesses we can attend before or after trading hours where a daytime visit would be disruptive — network changes and new machine setups are usually better done outside business hours anyway. Mention it when you book.

Questions from Springwood customers

No, and we do not offer one. No retainer, no managed-services agreement, no minimum spend. You call when something needs attention and pay $135 per hour for the time it takes. For an office with a handful of computers and a few incidents a year, that is almost always better value than a monthly fee.

By testing a restore, which is the step almost nobody takes. A backup that appears to be running and cannot actually be restored is worse than none, because you have stopped worrying about it. We verify the restore as part of setting it up, and we will check an existing backup for you while we are there for something else.

Probably, yes. Small offices rarely have a departure process, and old logins commonly stay active long after someone has gone. For any practice holding client information that is a real exposure. It is a quick job to audit and close off, and worth doing before it becomes a conversation you have to have with a client.
